सुभाषिते

I8नमो नमो भारताम्बे सारस्वत शरीरिणीम् |
नमोस्तु जगताम्वंदे ब्रम्हविद्या प्रकाषिनीम् |
रत्नाकरधौतपदां भारताम्बे हिमालया: किरीटिनीम् |
गंगात्या सरिता सर्वं स्तन्यं ते विश्वपावनीं ||

Prostrations to thee mother Bharata, thou art the embodiment of knowledge !
Prostrations to thee who is adored by the whole world! You enlighten all with Brhm Vidya (Supreme Knowledge) !
The Oceans wash your feets o! Mother Bharata who has Himalays as her crown !
Divine rivers like ganga are thou breast milk. Though them you purify the entire world !

सुशीलो मातृपुण्येन ,
         पितृपुण्येन चातुरः। 
औदार्यं वंशपुण्येन ,
   आत्मपुण्येन भाग्यवान ।।
   
अर्थात्:-  कोई भी संतान अपनी माता के पुण्य से सुशील होता है,  पिता के पुण्य से चतुर होता है , वंश के पुण्य से उदार होता है और अपने स्वयं के पुण्य होते हैं तभी वो भाग्यवान होता है , भाग्य प्राप्ति के लिए सत्कर्म आवश्यक है।

*नमस्तेस्तु महामायें श्रीपीठे सुरपूजिते । *
*शंख्चक्ररादाह्स्ते महालक्ष्मी नमस्तु ते ॥*

Namastestu mahaa maaye Shri pitthe sura pujite |
Shankha chakra gadaa haste mahalakshmi namostute ||

*Meaning:*
I worshipfully salute Devi Mahalakshmi, who is the Mahamaya (the primordial cause of creation) and who is worshipped in her abode by the suras.
Who is adorned in her beautiful form with conch, disc and gada in her hands, I worshipfully salute Devi Mahalakshmi.

*Brief explanation:*
This is the first verse from Mahalakshmi Ashtakam. 

गर्वाय परपीडायै दुर्जस्य धनं बलम् |
सज्जनस्य तु दानाय रक्षणाय च ते सदा ||

Wealth and strength of a wicked person is for his vanity(show off) and (ability) to trouble others (respectively). for a good person, they are always for donating (or say sharing with others) and to protect (others) (respectively).

अग्निशेषमृणशेषं शत्रुशेषं तथैव च |
पुन: पुन: प्रवर्धेत तस्माच्शेषं न कारयेत् ||

If a fire, a loan, or an enemy continues to exist even to a small extent, it will grow again and again; so do not let any one of it continue to exist even to a small extent.

यदि कोई आग, ऋण, या शत्रु अल्प मात्रा अथवा न्यूनतम सीमा तक भी अस्तित्व में बचा रहेगा तो बार बार बढ़ेगा ; अत: इन्हें थोड़ा सा भी बचा नही रहने देना चाहिए । इन तीनों को सम्पूर्ण रूप से समाप्त ही कर डालना चाहिए ।
